The pianist delivers a performance with a well-defined touch that is both richly toned and remarkably delicate. The balance between grace and tragedy is perfectly achieved, revealing Mozart’s shifting states of mind.
The orchestra never feels heavy, yet it remains ever-present, guiding the way—as beautifully demonstrated by the orchestral prelude to Concerto No. 20, K. 466, one of the finest in the discography.
The Andante of K. 467 is also a benchmark interpretation. One must listen to the heartbeat-like pulse from the lower strings, accompanied by a piano imbued with reverie and nostalgia, achieving a perfect equilibrium. The magnificent Concerto No. 22, K. 482, shines with youthful lightness, while the 23rd showcases the refinement and elegance that are hallmarks of Mozart’s writing.
