Product Description
Elevated intensity meets refined structure in this dual-origin Barossa Shiraz. The 2023 Torbreck The Struie magnum captures the tension and harmony between Eden Valley’s high-altitude finesse and Barossa Valley’s dark-fruited richness. Sourced from 40-year-old vines in Eden and 80-year-old vines in the Barossa, this cuvée layers purity and depth with precision.

Fermented and matured in French oak for 18 months, with 25% new barrels, it’s a wine built for longevity but already showing impressive shape and complexity. Blackberry and blueberry notes are wrapped in graphite, dark chocolate and sandalwood spice. The tannins are firm yet supple, giving the magnum format even greater aging potential. A commanding Shiraz with clarity, length and drive, best enjoyed from 2025 through the next two decades.

The Maker
Torbreck is a winery on a mission to become one of the world's great wine brands. Since 1994, they have remained committed to creating exceptional Rhone-style red and white wines that reflect the very best vineyards in Australia's famous Barossa region. Provenance is everything to them, and they believe that the Barossa is the most exciting place to make wine in the world. With a European sense of tradition, Torbreck pays tribute to the vineyards with minimal intervention, creating wines of richness, structure and length that age gracefully. The multi-generational growers, whose descendants arrived here nearly two centuries ago, are the backbone of Torbreck's winemaking aspirations. They work in partnership with the people of the Barossa who grow their fruit, always aiming to get the very best out of their vineyard sites. At Torbreck, they constantly seek to understand the difference between all of these special places in the Barossa and how this combination of soil, climate and farming experience is reflected in unique grape flavors. They are simply custodians, enhancing the innate expressiveness of the wines and enabling them to reveal over time their individual origins and personality. Torbreck is actually named after the forest near Inverness, Scotland where the winery's founder, David Powell worked as a lumberjack after completing university studies.

The winemaking style at Torbreck is meticulous and dedicated to producing exceptional wines. They use carefully selected 225-litre oak barriques for maturation, known as Dominique Laurent 'Magic Casks'. The oak is personally harvested from Forêt de Tronçais in Allier, and the staves are aged for 48 to 54 months at an exposed location for maximum seasoning. The staves are then hand-made into barrels and heated over three differing flames for several hours, resulting in a gentle toast due to the remarkable density of the wood. Torbreck's winemaking style reflects their commitment to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Barossa region.

The Vineyard
Torbreck’s vineyards span the Eden and Barossa Valleys, bringing together two distinct expressions of Shiraz—one high-toned and structured, the other rich and grounded. The Eden Valley sits at higher elevation, between 400 and 500 metres, with rocky ridgelines and gum-strewn hills that promote a cooler, later-ripening profile. This altitude contributes finesse, acidity and aromatic lift—essential traits in wines like The Struie.

In contrast, the Barossa Valley floor lies at 200 to 300 metres and is home to some of Australia’s oldest productive vines, many ungrafted and planted in the 19th century. Here, the gravelly soils and Mediterranean climate produce deeply coloured, powerfully flavoured Shiraz with concentration and longevity. Torbreck’s careful blending of these two terroirs—Eden’s grace and Barossa’s muscle—creates wines with layered complexity and the structure to age. It’s a duality they’ve mastered, guided by respect for the past and an uncompromising eye on the future.

They KNOW that latex smell and they are hard when you first get them!
My dogs love these! I just noticed I bought them 18 TIMES! 😧 I know it's the laytex smell and they try so hard to get that squeaker out! I'd yell "new toys" and throw 3 in different directions! I know they are expensive but my dogs and I have SO much fun 😊🐾🐾

Our German Sheppard loves these
Size: Medium
These cost a bit more than tennis balls, but they are so much nicer and longer lasting. For starters, they stay cleaner than tennis balls because they’re smooth rubber. Dirt won’t build up on them and if anything does stick, like grass or soil, it falls off once the dog slobber dries. They’re also thick, so they don’t fall apart or blow out like a normal tennis ball does in our dog’s jaws after 30 seconds. Our GS chomps on these like crazy and the only damage they’ve suffered is a crack that developed from the edge of the hole, but the crack is growing very slowly and none of these balls have totally failed yet. The balls do whistle when thrown ant high speed and that may help a dog track and locate it, but I’m not sure. Our neighbors hear the whistling too so it’s far from silent. Lastly the orange ball is easy to locate out in our yard, but the dark blue practically disappears.

Great for smaller dogs
Size: Small
These two balls are perfect for the smaller mouthed dog that loves to play fetch. These balls are not only super durable (lots of teeth biting), but float in the baby pool we use for our miniature dachshunds. The value here is much better than you’d find anywhere else. The noise, if bitten hard enough, was “low” at best. Easy to spot/find if overthrown. Will definitely buy again once these are in bad repair; so far, so good-love these for my fur babies!
