CURRENTLY ON HOLD

Late in the 1970's, Graham Russel (Air Supply) wrote the chart topping hit, All Out of Love. It was recorded on a Maton BG-808 model (pre-electronic era).

24 years ago, Maton was building an early production model of their EBG Series with onboard electronics for live performance. This guitar, Serial # 1717 was completed in August of 2002.

The basic specifications appear as a prelude to what would become today's EBG-808 Artist model, featuring their legacy "keyhole" headstock shape, Victorian Blackwood back & sides, it was built with an early rendition of their legendary AP5 electronic. It must have been a top of the line model at that time, fitted with a Hiscox flight case made in the UK.

In the two decades since it was built, this Maton EBG-808C has been someone's tool. The top soundboard seam had been cleated. The current finish, played through in some spots, is evidence of time well spent. Clearly someone's prized possession for many years, this is not some pawn shop guitar.

We have refurbished this Maton EBG-808C to give it a new life, and to find it a new home:

  • Professional setup, with new bone saddle. It now conforms to Maton factory setup (3/32" to 5/64" at the 12th fret).
  • Re-glued the bridge and dressed the frets (currently zero fret wear).
  • Replaced the vintage electronics with an entirely new AP5-Pro system.
  • Fitted with a fresh, new, Maton hard-shell case.
  • Elixir 16052 Phosphor Bronze Lights .012-.053

Some of us like guitars that come with a story. We don't know the whole story, though I am sure it has more miles to go and songs to play.

About the Artist, from Maton's website... "We cannot overstate the power and the punch of the BG808 Series. Within the smaller shape lies a mighty bass response and a focused projection, ideally suited for the recording studio. Since 1978, the 808 series has stood the test of time and is now available in several different tone-wood configurations.

With a sound board of "AAA" grade solid Sitka spruce, solid Blackwood back and sides and one of the world's finest acoustic pickups in the AP5-PRO. With its dominant live tone The EBG808 Artist is the guitar of choice for players all over the world."

The Maton AP5-Pro Electronics

In its 5th generation, the AP5 Pro features an internal Microphone and 6-Piezo bridge input, with controls that allow for blending of both microphone and piezo levels prior to sending the actively combined signals through the well engineered pre-amp.

The highly selective cardioid microphone system allows for much greater microphone level before feedback in live environments. The upgraded AP5-Pro microphone is direct mounted to the pre-amp casing with an adjustable swing arm, which permits easy final tweaking of microphone position to suit the individual artist's playing style.

Controls are at your fingertips, and their 'resistance curves' have been specially designed and manufactured expressly for the AP5-Pro. As a result, the Bass, Treble and MID are now much more 'linear' in feel. The FQ (Mid Sweep) now goes down much lower and has a much wider frequency band ( 600Hz to 2.4kHz ) to give greater control when targeting your specific sound.

Quality product you
Model: 18 SqFt(1.7 SqM), Model: 18 SqFt(1.7 SqM)
Summary: Great quality product, priced right. Cuts and installs easy-follow the instructions people!! PRO TIP-you don’t need to cover every square inch. OVERKILL!! Think about it-when a bell rings you could put your fingers on the edge and silence it right? Same rules apply here. A strip or square will isolate the vibration and notice when placed correctly— knock on the surface and see what vibrates or what part makes the loudest drowning and that’s a good clue of where you should put a piece of this…unless you’re trying to use it for temperature insulation no need to go ape on it. If you look at the bottom of a stainless steel sink, it’s got a stripe or a small sticker of insulation that keeps it from rattling. You can do that here. What’s important to note is the instruction specifically say use a roller to roll the ribs out until it’s smooth that way you’ve got maximum adhesion. I see a lot of pictures and videos from people that finished their install and didn’t follow this simple instruction. It makes sure that it’s stuck down before you put all your paneling and carpet back in and it’s a small step with a cheap wooden roller it’s easy. I’ll say the installation with this product is a breeze. You can use sharp scissors or a blade. It does get gummy after a while, and you may need to clean off your blade or your scissors, but it cuts very well and the ribs make it easy to size in space the thickness is fantastic and the backing paper comes off quite easily. I’ve done lots of installations with Graphics emblems you name it and this product is very easy to use and represents good value.

Good stuff !
Model: 36 SqFt(3.4 SqM), Model: 36 SqFt(3.4 SqM)
This is an excellent product. Easily moldable, cuttable with good scissors or razor knife, very sticky, works great. This pack was enough to do all 4 doors on a crew max truck, and I went wild on the fronts. I used 9 peices on each rear door which was just enough, and the rest on the fronts. I doubled up layers and even used some on the back of the door panels. If you follow the instructions and dont go wild you might even have extra left over. It works just like you would imagine. Without doing the entire cab there will still be road noise but this helped noise, better audio, no buzzing door panels, terrific improvement. It is kind of heavy, so extra weight is added to truck, but that really isnt a bad thing. It is noticable but in a good way. Get it. Use it.

Great product - Add foam product for complete solution
Model: 36 SqFt(3.4 SqM)
Used in two cars with speaker upgrades. Easy to install but get the roller for assured adhesion.removes "tinnyness" from large metal resonators. Use with foam absorptive material for a complete system.
