Kay was raised in Hong Kong and is currently based in England. After graduating from university, she started her career as an illustrator. Alongside her illustration work, she is the founder of Print Studio Ink’chacha, the first Risograph studio based in Hong Kong. She is also passionate about silversmithing, ceramics and printmaking. She worked as an illustrator for both agencies and magazines. She finds inspiration from various sources, including vintage items like toys, books, posters, and furniture. She enjoys studying their forms and colours, as they often inspire her work. Architectural styles also influence her, particularly the subtle details like ornamentation, shadows, and spatial arrangements, which inspire the layout of her artwork. She creates art centred around animals, monsters, stories, and whatever else piques her interest. The time at her Risograph studio has had a profound influence on her illustration style, colour palette, texture, and colour separation techniques.
