Zahm & Nagel #1000D - Zahm SS-60 CO² Volume Meter

The Zahm SS-60 Volume Meter was originally developed to determine average CO² gas levels in tank stored beverages. This improved design greatly improves the accuracy and time required to run a test. Essential for breweries, wineries and other makers of carbonated canned beverages.

Featuring a precise piston release mechanism, the SS-60 eliminates bleeding off of the sample and the chance of human error. Samples undergo repeatable, precise volumetric expansion tests several times for more accurate measurements.

Lightweight design reduces operator fatigue. Stainless steel construction provides durability and resists corrosion. Thermometers are easy to replace.

Features:

  • The precision piston release mechanism reduces the chance of human error

  • Lightweight design for operator comfort

  • Durable

1) What is the SS-60 used for?
The Zahm & Nagel SS-60 (1000D) is used to verify carbonation (CO2 volumes) in carbonated beverages for production QA/QC (tank and packaged product).

2) Is this a “CO2 meter” for room safety monitoring?
No. This product is for beverage carbonation testing (CO2 volumes). CO2 room safety monitors are a different product category.

3) Does it measure dissolved CO2 in beverages?
It determines CO2 levels in carbonated beverages using a repeatable test method suitable for brewery and beverage QA/QC workflows.

4) How repeatable/accurate are the readings?
Repeatability improves when operators follow a consistent SOP—especially for sample temperature, purge/flush volume, agitation time, and when the reading is taken.

5) How much product should I purge/flush before taking a reading?
Plan to flush enough beverage to stabilize temperature and reduce foam/line effects before taking the actual measurement. Consistent purge practice improves consistency.

6) What can throw off a CO2 reading?
Common causes include inconsistent sample temperature, trapped foam, insufficient purge/flush, dirty fittings, and particulate/solids interfering with seals or connections.

7) Do I need to calibrate or verify the gauge/thermometer?
Yes. Accuracy depends on keeping pressure and temperature measurements in spec. Regular checks (and calibration when required) help maintain reliable results.

8) Can the SS-60 be repaired or rebuilt?
Yes. The SS-60 is a serviceable instrument. Wear parts can be replaced and older units are commonly refurbished.

9) What typically wears out first?
In real-world use, gaskets/seals are common wear items. Gauges may also require replacement over time depending on usage and handling.

10) Is the SS-60 worth it versus lower-cost testers?
Many brewers treat it as a “buy once” tool—lower-cost testers can work for rough checks, but the SS-60 is often chosen for durability, long-term support, and consistency.

11) Does it work the same for all beverages?
Results can be affected when beverages contain other dissolved gases in addition to CO2. If your product uses mixed gas, contact us and we’ll confirm the best approach.

12) Do you support parts and service in Canada?
Yes. We can support ownership with replacement parts and guidance—contact us with your model details and what you’re trying to measure.

Reliable Everyday Printer Paper
Size: 1 Ream | 500 Sheets, Style: Letter (8.5x11)
This is standard plain printer paper for everyday home use, and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do without any issues. I have had no problems with paper jams, ink smudging, or feeding through the printer. The paper is an average thickness, nothing special, but perfectly fine for printing documents. The color is white. It does not curl, and everything comes out clean and readable. It does not stand out in any particular way, but there is also nothing to complain about. Overall, it is reliable, consistent, and works well for regular home printing needs. I will buy again.

Love it.
Style: Ink
I love my epson workforce printer. I used to be a Canon person but once I got this printer. It changed my mind. So the ink is worth it. Especially in the bundle package. It may be a bit on the pricey side but it last me awhile. At least, in my opinion, it’s less expensive than buying them separately. Epson makes great stuff and glad I chose to stick with them. The ink is very good and looks great after it prints. Thanks to Epson for functionality, cost and efficiency when it comes you your products.

Epson Ink for the win
Style: Ink
Love my epson printer and that I can order the ink just about anywhere. Ink is of good quality and depending on the amount you print, it seems to last a decent amount of time.

It's ink and it works.
Style: Ink
It's ink and it works. My Epson printer is VERY finicky and only wants name-brand ink. This is it. A little pricey but they all are.
