Mobil SHC 624 is an exceptional performance synthetic gear and bearing oil formulated from proprietary PAO base stocks for demanding applications requiring ISO VG 32 lubrication. As the lightest viscosity grade in the Mobil SHC 600 Series, it is engineered for high-speed gearboxes, high-speed bearings and applications where extreme low-temperature startup capability is essential — delivering a pour point of -57°C that is virtually unmatched by any mineral oil product at this viscosity grade.
The PAO synthetic base stock provides exceptional thermal and oxidation resistance (RPVOT 2,500 minutes, TOST 10,000+ hours), outstanding air release performance critical for high-speed applications, and a viscosity index of 148 — delivering stable viscosity across extreme temperature swings from sub-zero cold starts to elevated operating temperatures. Its low traction coefficient reduces fluid friction in gear contacts and rolling element bearings, contributing to measurable energy efficiency improvements versus mineral equivalents.
Note: Mobil SHC 624 has an orange colour, distinguishing it visually from mineral gear oils and from the clear Mobilgear 600 XP Series. ISO VG 32 is specified for high-speed applications — always confirm the required grade from your equipment nameplate or OEM manual before ordering.

Extreme Cold-Start Capability
Pour point of -57°C — the lowest in the Mobil SHC 600 Series and exceptional for any industrial gear oil. Enables reliable startup and immediate lubrication in cold-climate applications, high-altitude equipment and remote installations where cold overnight temperatures are routine.
Exceptional Oil Life
RPVOT of 2,500 minutes and TOST of 10,000+ hours — outstanding oxidation resistance enabling extended drain intervals in high-speed gearboxes and bearing housings where frequent oil changes are disruptive or impractical.
Air Release Performance
Improved air release performance in the lower viscosity grades — critical for high-speed gear and bearing applications where rapid air entrainment and release is required to maintain effective hydrodynamic lubrication and prevent foam-related lubricant film breakdown.
Energy Efficiency
Low traction coefficient of the PAO base reduces fluid friction in gear contacts and rolling element bearings — up to 3.6% energy efficiency improvement vs mineral equivalents in controlled testing. Particularly relevant for high-speed applications where friction losses are significant.
Shear Stability
Virtually no viscosity loss under mechanical shear in high-speed gear and bearing applications — maintains ISO VG 32 protection throughout the service interval without viscosity grade drop-off that can occur with thickened mineral oils.
Rust, Corrosion & Multi-Metal Compatibility
Passes ASTM D665 Procedure B rust test. Excellent multi-metal compatibility including ferrous and non-ferrous metals at elevated temperatures — important for high-speed gearboxes with yellow metal components such as bronze bushings and thrust washers.
