The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) sets standards for sustainable fishing and responsible population management by fisheries. The cod skin used is a by-product of the fishing industry. Collagen (protein) is a structural protein found throughout the human body. There are dozens of types of collagen that differ in structure, function, and composition. Type I collagen is the most abundant, found in the skin, hair, nails, bones, ligaments, and organs.
