With Bread All Sorrows Are LessWhen I began the painting my goal was to depict bread as a symbol of service. When my wife bakes bread, its often baked in several trays. We as a family will eat one loaf, and give the other loaves to neighbors, friends, or others who need a helping hand. During the painting of this particular piece, I actually ended up having a kidney stone that caused severe pain and nausea. I was pretty sick for two weeks. During that time, friends and neighbors

When I began the painting my goal was to depict bread as a symbol of service. When my wife bakes bread, it’s often baked in several trays. We as a family will eat one loaf, and give the other loaves to neighbors, friends, or others who need a helping hand. During the painting of this particular piece, I actually ended up having a kidney stone that caused severe pain and nausea. I was pretty sick for two weeks. During that time, friends and neighbors came to our aid, offered support, and even brought loaves of bread. When I went back to my painting, instead of it symbolizing how we have served others, it was a manifestation of the service of others rendered on our behalf.
