By: Christopher M. Palmer“[A] revolutionary road map for people suffering from depression, anxiety, bipolar disease . . . almost any brain disorder." —Mark Hyman, MD, New York Times bestselling author of Young Forever
Discover the surprising link between your metabolism and mental health in this cutting-edge guide with practical advice for treatment and care.
We are in the midst of a global mental health crisis, and mental illnesses are on the rise. But what causes mental illness? And why are mental health problems so hard to treat?
In Brain Energy, Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Chris Palmer unites our existing knowledge about mental illness within a single framework: Mental disorders are metabolic disorders of the brain. The root cause of mental illness isn’t merely genetics or a chemical imbalance, but rather the energy available for your brain.
Palmer explains this new understanding of mental illness in detail, from symptoms and risk factors to what is happening in brain cells, and sheds light on the new treatment pathways this theory opens up for all mental disorders, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, alcoholism, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, autism, and even schizophrenia.
This groundbreaking book reveals:
- Why classifying mental disorders as “separate” conditions is misleading
- The clear connections between mental illness and common health disorders linked to metabolism, including diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, pain disorders, obesity, Alzheimer’s disease, and epilepsy
- The link between metabolism and every factor known to play a role in mental health, including genetics, inflammation, hormones, neurotransmitters, sleep, stress, and trauma
- The evidence that current mental health treatments, including medications and therapies, really work by affecting metabolism
- New treatments available today that readers can use to promote long-term healing
Brain Energy pairs cutting-edge science with practical advice and strategies to help people reclaim their mental health.

You get what you pay for
Size: XX-Large, Color: Eggshell White Black Mariner Stripe
Like most of the other reviews here, the shirt runs too small and too short. Material was also incredibly uncomfortable. It also wasn't the color I was hoping it would be, but that's on me for not reading the fine print (eggshell white was very much not white)
If you're looking at this for a certain costume/cosplay idea, it's probably not what you're looking for.

Runs small and is short. Nice dark navy color. I ordered a size up and it is still small.

Great tee
Size: X-Large, Color: Medium Grey Heather
It’s a nice cotton material…not thin, just perfect. After washing, it also kept its shape.

Very well made Oxford casual shirts.
Size: X-Large, Color: Sky Blue
I've ordered 8 of these Button-down collared, long sleeved Oxford shirts in eight different colors. I'm 6', weigh 195. And have a 44" chest and fairly broad shoulders. The XL give me ample room, plenty of shirt tail to tuck in. And are well made. The shirts have a nice soft feeling to them. If you wash them with like items, and dry them likewise, taking them out before the cycle ends and hanging them. You won't have a single wrinkle. The shirts are true to color, and true to size if you follow the size guideline. These are not tailor fit, but regular fit shirts. Fabric quality seems very durable and well made. There is no smell when receiving the shirts. No more so than buying a shirt at a retail store. They do come in a vacuum bag. The shirts are a little heavier than a poplin shirt and can be worn year-round. These are great casual shirts for jeans and a sport coat, or slacks. I like the quality and the colors. I also like the thickness of the shirts. All of the shirts I've bought, black, blue, etc, have white buttons. Which makes them more of a casual shirt. But well worth the price.
