This song makes me think about all the times in my life where I felt like I was in a tempest, being tossed to and fro. It makes me think of the many times I have looked to Christ with tears running down

This painting was inspired by the hymn ‘Master, The Tempest Is Raging’ kept coming to my mind, specifically these few lines, ‘And I perish! I perish! dear Master. Oh, hasten and take control! The winds and the waves shall obey thy will: Peace, be still.’ This song makes me think about all the times in my life where I felt like I was in a tempest, being tossed to and fro. It makes me think of the many times I have looked to Christ with tears running down my face, saying ‘I am perishing. Help me. I’m all alone, no one understands, I need you now.’ Ironically it’s in those moments, when I have felt the most lonely, that I have had some of my most sacred experiences with Him.

When I see this painting I am reminded that after the storm, always comes peace. Peace from Him. The peace that passeth all understanding. The peace that I have only ever found through Him. Whether you are in the middle of a storm, just coming out of one, or can see one approaching, I hope this painting can help you to feel and remember the peace He brings. I know that the One who can calm oceans and storms can surely calm the storms in our hearts and our minds, for even the winds and the waves obey Him.
