This book describes my life as I became a computer programmer in the early stages of the ongoing Information Technology Revolution in the 1960s. It presents a loose narrative of most of my life and includes episodic material that capture certain events in greater detail. These are referred to as sketches. The sketches recount events that are sad, humorous, distasteful, and often portray situations that could have resulted in tragedy for the author or for others included in the activity. I also have included a great deal of descriptive material of places that I visited and fancied. I was inspired to develop this material after I read a book written by my cousin, Ruth Demarest Godfrey, titled An Ordinary Woman. I greatly enjoyed reading her book because I knew many of the subjects and their circumstances. Perhaps I can engender similar reactions in persons familiar with my subjects and circumstances.
