[2nd Edition]
Classroom-tested and teacher-approved, this is the only resource you need to start building your own circuits and programming your own robot! Volume Two of this two-volume set continues with the Teensy 3.2 microcontroller and makes extensive use of the PRT_28 motherboard and OneBot mobile robotic platform from Patton Robotics. In this volume, the reader applies the computer coding skills learned in Volume One to the exciting world of electronics, robotics, and physical computing. Furthermore, the reader discovers how to program their own sensors and actuators and build their own electronic circuits.
This book can be used with any ARM-based microcontroller using the Arduino C programming language. Specifically, this book focuses on the Teensy 3.2 development board, PRT3 motherboard, and OneBot wheeled robot. Starting with building basic electronic circuits, the reader learns how to use the PRT3 motherboard to provide power to these circuits, as well as interact with them. The reader moves through electronics terminology, circuit design, and actuator control by programming the Teensy 3.2 microcontroller to drive LEDs, piezo buzzers, servomotors, and relays. The reader also learns how to program the OneBot robot to sense its environment with a variety of temperature, light, magnetic field, proximity, and infrared sensors, as well as infrared and sonic range-finding sensors. There are even sections dedicated to making music with an audio transducer and using the microcontroller to fire a laser! With the beginner in mind, the step-by-step instructions contained within are clear and detailed.
This volume contains:
¥ Hundreds of easy-to-follow code examples
¥ Practice problems with detailed solutions
¥ Approximately 450 Challenge Problems
¥ Over 750 images and illustrations
