Historic Provenance

This design is inspired by a 7th-century Chinese wine container in The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Museum’s vessel reflects a dialogue of cultures—its amphora-like form recalls Greco-Roman design, while animal-headed handles draw from Persian and Central Asian traditions. Rooted in Chinese craftsmanship, it embodies the cosmopolitan spirit of the Tang dynasty (618–907). Reimagined through Met x Eichholtz, the Amphora translates this fusion of influences into a contemporary decorative piece.
